# Offline games for kids: a drawing app with no wifi needed

## Paint at 10,000 metres

Yes, Extreme Drawing works without wifi. The iPhone, iPad and Android apps need no internet connection at all: every tool, every experiment and every time skip runs on the device, and drawings are saved on it. Flight mode, a tunnel or a campsite with no signal make no difference.

- No wifi needed
- No mobile data
- Drawings saved on the device

## Why it doesn't need the internet

Most apps go online for ads, accounts, analytics or downloads. Extreme Drawing has none of those, so the apps simply don't connect to the internet. On Android you can see it in the permissions: the app doesn't even ask to use the internet.

Everything happens on the device: the paper, the paint, the mould that grows in three days, the oven and the freezer. That also means no surprise data use abroad.

## Where it comes in handy

### Long drives and flights

Bake a drawing, freeze it, wait three days for the mould. A lot happens on one sheet of paper.

### Waiting rooms and restaurants

All the mess of ketchup, ice cream and spilled tea, and none on the table.

### Holiday cottages and campsites

No signal, no problem. And when it rains, see our rainy day ideas.

### Quiet time at home

Turn the wifi off if you like; the app won't notice.

### Two children, one tablet

Several fingers can draw at once, so siblings can paint side by side. They share the tool that's picked.

### Grandparents' house

Nothing to log in to and no password to remember.

## Before you travel

Three minutes at home, with wifi, saves a lot of trouble on the road.

1. Install the app at homeDownloading it needs a connection; playing doesn't. Open it once to check it starts.
2. Unlock it at home, if you want toBuying the full toolbox goes through Apple's or Google's store, so do it while you're online. After that the app remembers it.
3. Set the soundOn a plane, pack headphones or switch the sound off in the grown-ups' area. On iPhone and iPad the game's sound follows the volume buttons, not the silent switch. The music can be switched off on its own too.
4. Charge the tabletThe paper simulation keeps the device busy, so start with a full battery on a long trip.

The browser version needs a connection to open

The web version at play.extremedrawing.com loads over the internet, so open it while you're online. For travel without a signal, the iPhone, iPad and Android apps are the ones to take.

Does Extreme Drawing work on a plane?

Yes. The apps need no internet at all, so flight mode makes no difference. Just remember headphones, or switch the sound off in the grown-ups' area.

Do saved drawings need the cloud?

No. Drawings are saved on the device itself, so they're there with or without a connection.

Does the full toolbox still work offline?

Yes. Buying it needs the store, so do that at home; once it's unlocked, it works offline like the rest.

Can we use the browser version without internet?

It needs a connection to load. For offline play, use the iPhone, iPad or Android app.
